Alasdair Bruce BVMS MRCVS

Alasdair graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 1986, being awarded the Iain Lauder memorial prize for best small animal student. He then worked in mixed practice, at Montrose and then Kent. In 1991 he returned to Scotland to practice in the Stirling area, where four years later he was one of the founding partners of Broadleys Veterinary Hospital.  More recently he has been the driving force behind the creation of our unique Rehabilitation Centre.  Alasdair is passionate about maintaining the best quality of life for animals living with pain through the facilities that the rehabilitation centre offers.  He also has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and is both experienced and accomplished in this field.

As well as being a very dedicated vet, Alasdair is also a dedicated triathlete and completed his first Ironman event in 2011.  Family members include a Border terrier called Tizzee and a rescued cat called Dexter.

Helen Sutton BSc Hon BVMS MRCVS

Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

Helen graduated with honours in 2002 from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School, following which, she worked in mixed practice at Forfar.  In 2003 the opportunity arose for her to work at the small animal hospital within the University of Pretoria Veterinary School in South Africa.  Initially she joined the out-patient department, experiencing a wide range of canine and feline infectious diseases and the subsequent care of critically ill patients.  This gave her first hand experience of many of the diseases we vaccinate our pets against in the UK.   A developing interest in medicine, led her to complete an internship in the medicine department. During this time she completed a further qualification in small animal internal medicine.   She joined Broadleys in 2007 and has brought with her a great enthusiasm to provide an exceptionally high standard of veterinary care to all our patients.  Helen became a partner in 2014.

Raised in Perthshire on a deer, sheep, cattle and wildlife park, Helen has grown up with animals at the centre of her life.  She currently lives in Drymen, with her husband; two sons; a dog, Percy; and a cat, William, who was rescued from the clinic in South Africa and brought back to Scotland.
