Dog and cat live together

Charity Work

Our care and concern for animals extends out into the local community and beyond.

We regularly raise funds for cat and dog shelters, such as Cats Protection, Second Chance Kennels and the SSPCA. We also invite clients to join us with donations of food and bedding to comfort pets who find themselves homeless at Christmas time.

The nurses encouraged us all to clear out our wardrobes for NOWZAD Dogs, a shelter for abandoned cats and dogs in war-torn Afghanistan. Clients and staff raised £120 by recycling clothes, shoes and handbags.

Ten of us did the Race for Life and raised over £1300 for Cancer Research UK.

As part of our twentieth anniversary celebrations we held a charity fun day at the hospital for our favourite animal charities. We raised another £1300 which was shared among these local, national and global organisations:

Animals Asia Scotland Support Group – who raise funds for the global work of the Animals Asia Foundation concerning bear bile farming, cat and dog welfare and captive animal welfare.

Born Free Foundation – who work throughout the world to stop individual wild animal suffering and to protect threatened species in the wild.

CACH Campaign Against Canned Hunting – exposing the shocking cruelty of a growing tourist industry for which animals are bred to be hunted in enclosures, giving no possibility of escape.

Cats Protection Clackmannanshire & Stirling – whose vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

Forth Hedgehog Hospital – caring for sick, orphaned or injured hedgehogs in Fife, Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

FWF Fundraising For Wildlife – who help a number of specially chosen wildlife organisations around the globe including: SSPCA, Scottish Wildlife Trust and Marine Conservation Society.

NESSR Northern English Springer Spaniel Rescue – working in Scotland, NE England and Yorkshire to rescue discarded, unwanted or neglected English Springer Spaniels.

Paws for Progress at HMYOI Polmont – in this pioneering project, male young offenders are taught how to train and rehabilitate rescue dogs for re-homing.

Scotland for Elephants – a group of people in Scotland dedicated to raising awareness about the ivory trade and the fate of elephants across Africa.

Sunny Harbour Cat & Kitten Rescue – who work to ease the suffering of stray and abandoned cats and kittens in and around Edinburgh and Fife.
